Mission Beach

Mission Beach is a name given to a classic boardwalk beach town in San Diego, California. This lovely take covers two miles of oceanfront boardwalk. A short relaxing walk across the main thoroughfare of Mission Beach takes you to the enchanting waters of Mission Bay. It is known to be the largest aquatic park and home to SeaWorld San Diego. The beach line is full of playgrounds, grassy parks, miles of paved calming sidewalks, and picnic tables.

Mission Beach was designed by the famous architect Frank Walter Stevenson. The Mission Beach Plunge in Belmont Park is a major attraction. It opened for the public as the Natatorium in May 1925. The pool was designed in Spanish Renaissance architecture. The changing rooms of this stylish pool were seen in the film Top Gun by Tom Cruise. Esther Williams and Johnny Weissmuller are some of the celebrities who once swam at the Plunge.

Being a one-of-a-kind oasis, Mission Beach consists of several rental shops, an amusement park called Belmont Park, miniature golf, bumper cars, an arcade, and rock climbing. Not to forget the Beach House Grill. This popular beach is also packed with several bars exhibiting a hot nightlife scene for those who are still young at heart.

Some of the major attractions near Mission Beach include Belmont Park in South Mission Beach, SeaWorld in Mission Bay Park, and a few more. The original wooden Giant Dipper Roller Coaster is the most prominent feature of Belmont Park. Some other new rides include Krazy Kars, Tilt-a-Whirl, the FlowRider at Wave House, Crazy Submarine, The Beach Blaster, Vertical Plunge, Liberty Carousel, and The Chaos. Mission Beach also consists of Mariner's Point. It is popular as the over-the-line softball-on-the-beach tournament's original site.

Mission Beach offers a long list of activities for the entire family. For example biking, boogie boarding, surfing, whale watching, sport fishing, beach volleyball, and scuba diving. Some of the most entertaining venues at the beach are The Pennant in South Mission, Guava Beach, The Coaster Saloon, The Beachcomber, The Sandbar Sports Grill, Draft, and the Wave House. If you are more into various activities, Mission Beach won't spoil your mood. Ranging from fishing off of the Mission Bay jetty, bicycling on the boardwalk, to kiteboarding, boogie boarding, and enjoying roller coaster rides, the site has everything.

A few important aspects of Mission Beach include the prohibition of bikinis on the beach, alcohol consumption, and nudity. But when it comes to your favorite swimwear, the local police and lifeguards won't bother you.
